The goal of the project was to design a platform user experience that allows truck owners to contract transportation work through a bidding system.

My role:
Senior Product Designer
‍‍
Duration:
3 weeks

‍‍‍‍Outcome:
Design POC

Customer Job:
Earn profits by choosing the time and amount of work.
Easily navigate through the app to understand how it works.

Business Requirement:
Secure haul trucks to cope with the rush hour, and to lower the transportation cost through competition among truck drivers.

How might we design seamless bidding experience for truck drivers?

Design Process

I made sure to dedicate appropriate time-blocks for various design stages so that I can manage and allocate time accordingly.

1. Research

EMPATHY BUILDING

renown bidding ux BENCHMARK

Truck driving is a very time-sensitive job. Most of the time drivers were exhausted, but their mind had to be awake, in order to continue their daily lives.

I took advantage of the features that can be referenced and applied them to ideation.

2. Define

defining ux

I was able to define the app experience to be reliable by guaranteeing transparency in the bidding process and status, and consist of relatively large, simple UI considering that the average age group is in their 50s.

3. Ideate

user flows

I organized the information that should be exposed in order to complete the first bid and improved my understanding of designing the logic behind the bidding process - such as for when the user enters a lower amount or when the user enters the same amount, etc.

wireframing

With the low-fidelity prototype, I was able to experiment with various layouts and optimized the layout considering what information should be displayed at which touchpoint.

I was also able to take the low-fidelity prototype to test for elements that should be exposed to users in the bidding process and learned that all three participants felt difficult setting the lowest bid offer. This part was intensively improved and reflected in my final design.

4. Prototype

Sam authenticates his phone to successfully sign up and completes his onboarding.

Sam can check for nearby jobs without going through separate search process or use search, filter, and sort to find matching jobs.

Sam is able to win the bid at 173,000 KRW, which is higher than the minimum bid Sam had set.

Sam can sort through jobs by in-bid, won, and completed.
